Shame is A Lie Someone is Telling You

What is shame? To the person being shamed it is a horrible feeling that cuts very deeply into the very core of your being. Shame stops you in your tracks. It literally stops you from thinking clearly.. You become the shame. You feel that who you are is defective, or dirty or less than human.

What is shame? Shame is a tool, nothing more, nothing less. Shame has been used since time began as a tool of manipulation and control by one person or group of people against another person or group of people. Shame is used to make the target person or group of people feel inferior and therefore less powerful. It is your choice to accept or reject the shame. Eleanor Roosevelt said that no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. So when someone is shaming you, don’t take it personally. Reject the shame. It really isn’t about you. It is about them. It is about what they are thinking or feeling that makes them uncomfortable or feel threatened. It is about their need to feel superior. And it is easier for them to lash out at someone else than deal with their own feelings. Reject shame as a lie someone is telling you.
